Written in 2015 by authors Barbara Mulligan and David Cuthbert this book takes you on a journey of discovery around New Zealand exploring long forgotten railway branch lines dating back to the 1870s. The authors researched the history of each back country railway line in detail. While this book has been out of print for some years now, the subject remains eternal and there have been numerous requests for this book as it is a helpful companion when investigating the numerous closed lines around New Zealand.
In answer to these requests, the authors have very generously made the book available as a PDF download FREE to New Zealand Railway and Locomotive Society members.
To make it easier for users to only have to download the areas that are of interest to them, the book has been split into a series of PDF’s starting with the Books contents page and an overview of the five regions. Click on the one of interest to you and that will take you to the PDF. If you then wish to download this hit the download button usually situated on the top right hand side of the screen.
