In the Governments’ 2025 Budget they confirmed $600m for upgrading the rail network. At the NZRLS 2023 Annual General Meeting the guest speaker was Daran Ponter who addressed the topic “Metlink Rail Operations – Present Operations and Future Plans”. Daren is the chair of the Greater Wellington Regional Council and a keen observer of rail developments, including the new hybrid trains for the Manawatu and Wairarapa lines which he was the driving force behind.
This was a very good presentation and in light of the Governments decision the Society decided to make this presentation available for viewing by all.
